Why Are We So Afraid to Leap?

By

Yesterday I talked to a friend who’s been dreaming about moving to Paris for so long. She keeps saying it but hasn’t taken the steps towards it. And it got me thinking… how can life open doors for us if we don’t even try to knock?

I truly believe that once you start acting on what you really want life responds. Things start moving. Not because you’re chasing, but because you’re showing up. And if it’s meant for you, the right doors will open. If not, at least you’ve tried. You stepped up for yourself, for something that needed exploration. Something that shaped you.

She told me she doesn’t know if her company would allow her to work from Paris for a few months. I asked, “Did you ask?” She said, “No… I’m afraid they’ll say no.”

But if we never ask, how would we know?

People say “the grass isn’t always greener oh the other side” but truth is, neither they nor we can know until we try. If your heart lights up in a certain place, around certain people, in a different country then why not jump? Why not leap into the unknown?

At the end of the day, you always know what to do when you turn down the noise around you. Your truth is there, quietly waiting for you to listen.

So maybe today’s the day you ask. Or you try. Or you leap.

The door won’t open until you touch the handle.
